Austrian
golf courses are not - as you might imagine - tortuously hilly and only fit for mountain goats! In fact, are all found in the valleys and are either flat or make use of some of the gentle slopes. The greens are protected over the winter months by the snow and emerge in the spring green and fresh, just begging to be played.
From May through to October the weather is warm and pleasant with cool evenings, although the temperature can rise to as much as 30C at times.
Situated in the central part of Austria with regular flights into Salzburg, the Salzburgerland region of Austria has plenty of courses to choose from and we have selected three areas.
Zell am See, just an hour’s drive from Salzburg, is a delightful, bustling town set against the backdrop of the mountains with the lake at its feet and the two 18 hole courses of Zell am See - Kaprun Golf close by. The town of Kitzbuhel is situated just outside Salzburgerland in the Tirol region and boasts a cosmopolitan atmosphere with cobblestone streets and painted buildings surrounded by a 12th century wall.
Getting to Austria from the UK is easy. Flights into Salzburg are increasing and are covered by some low cost as well as scheduled airlines. The road system is efficient and you will reach your accommodation in about one hour.
