Alto Golf

 

Three times British Open Champion Sir Henry Cotton has designed a challenging course for all standards of player in Alto Golf.  Although, with the 16th hole, O'Gigante, being one of the longest in Europe at 604 metres, we feel that perhaps mid to low handicappers will enjoy this course most. 

 

With stunning scenery, a unique backdrop of the Monchique mountains, and gently rolling fairways, this 6125 metre long course is a fine setting to enjoy a days golfing in the Algarve.  You can even catch the odd glimpses of Lagos Bay and Praia da Vau. 

 

Alto Golf has five par 3s, eight par 4s, and five par 5s, with two ponds coming into play on four of the 18 holes.  The course is well maintained, the fairways are always in very good condition, and the greens are excellent.  Most are well guarded by strategically placed bunkers meaning accuracy on your approach shots is key in order to score well.  Located between Praia da Rocha and Alvor, Alto golf is well worth including in your golfing itinerary whilst in the Algarve.
