Golf Holidays in Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria, one of the largest Canary Islands, is often called “the Small Continent” due to its incredibly varied landscapes. In a single day, golfers can enjoy lush forests, exotic flora and fauna, desert-like dunes, mountain peaks, volcanic craters, stunning coastlines, and beautiful beaches. With its mild year-round climate, the island is perfect for golfing at any time of the year.
The capital, Las Palmas, is rich in history and architecture, making it an ideal destination for a day off the course. Alternatively, relax on the white sand dunes of Maspalomas Beach or explore the quieter corners of the island. Hidden villages, volcanic craters, and the Maspalomas Natural Park dunes—where you can even take a camel ride—offer plenty of adventure. Active visitors can enjoy mountain biking, sailing, or diving along the coast.
Of course, the main draw for golfers is the courses themselves. Gran Canaria now features four excellent 18-hole courses, a superb 18-hole par-3, and more courses are in development. Golf has a long history here: the first golf course in Spain was built on Gran Canaria in 1891, giving the island a rich golfing tradition that continues to thrive today.
